2008 Tour
Beginning in 2008, Erin will be going on the road with her brand new college program, “Stayin’ Alive on Spring Break.” Erin Weed is a professional speaker, college safety expert and author of “Girls Fight Back! The College Girl’s Guide to Protecting Herself.” She is also the founder of SafeSpringBreak.org. Since 2002 she has spoken to over 100,000 college students nationwide about taking responsibility for their personal safety. Erin’s first calling to educate college students came in 2001 after the murder of her Alpha Phi sorority sister at Eastern Illinois University. (Erin’s Full Bio)
Program Description
Whatever happens on spring break, stays on spring break…right? Well, not really. In March 2006, CNN flew Erin Weed to Daytona Beach as a safety expert for a special report on Spring Break in America. She had the chance to get an in-depth look at what’s happening on spring break today and the danger behind seemingly innocent situations. Erin also had the opportunity to reflect on her own college spring break in South Padre, TX with 40 of her friends. She recalled the many instances of binge drinking, unsafe sex and legal situations which were experienced during just one wild week, and developed practical solutions to avoid these bad situations. Now she’s taking these proactive strategies on the road for the 2008 Stayin’ Alive on Spring Break Tour, in hopes that college students will realize their personal safety on spring break is 100% up to them.
This program offers proactive safety tips for: party situations, safe sex, binge drinking, predatory drugs, air/car/hotel safety, and ways to avoid crime targeted at tourists. Erin will also demonstrate her favorite self-defense techniques that could be used to escape a violent confrontation. Using her signature style of combining humor with straight talk, Erin urges students to have a blast on spring break…but to make safe choices in the process.
